Arlington County police are investigating an armed robbery Sunday night in Ballston, among several notable incidents in the latest ACPD crime reports.

The robbery happened shortly before 8:30 p.m., along the 1000 block of N. Glebe Road. Police say a younger man armed with a gun demanded and then ran off with electronics and a bag from a male victim who was sitting outside.

Police are looking for a suspect in a serious assault in Crystal City.

It happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday along 23rd Street S., just east of Route 1. Police say the suspect approached the victim, demanded his backpack, and struck him with a glass bottle when he refused. The suspect fled and the victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

All lanes of northbound I-395 were diverted onto S. Glebe Road last night after a fatal crash on the highway involving a police vehicle.

The crash happened just before 9:45 p.m. Wednesday near the exit to Washington Blvd, about 10 minutes after an officer reported making a traffic stop in the same area. Officers were said to be on scene and performing CPR on a driver within minutes of the crash, according to scanner traffic.

Police are conducting a death investigation along Four Mile Run after a body was found this afternoon.

Arlington County police responded to a wooded area near the intersection of Columbia Pike and S. Four Mile Run Road around 2:15 p.m., after someone reported finding a body near the creek.

Yorktown High School will see an increased police presence today after a bomb threat was made against the school.

Arlington County police responded to the school around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, shortly after becoming aware of a threat being posted online, according to an ACPD spokesperson.

The Arlington County Police Department is holding a planned training in a building in Crystal City later today (Tuesday).

The closed training exercise will happen from around 6 p.m. to midnight on the 1800 block of S. Bell Street, according to an ACPD press release. An 11-story tower on this block is currently teed up for an office-to-apartment conversion project, with public hearings scheduled for later this fall.

A wanted man’s attempt to flee law enforcement failed after he crashed his car into a fire hydrant in Arlington Ridge, police say.

Officers spotted the 27-year-old along the 2900 block of S. Glebe Road around 8:40 p.m. He tried to drive off but crashed into a fire hydrant, then tried to flee on foot but fell and injured himself, according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report.

A man was stabbed multiple times and seriously injured Thursday night in Virginia Square.

The stabbing happened around 7 p.m. inside the Tobacco Hut store at 3528 Wilson Blvd, according to scanner traffic. It prompted a large police response that briefly closed eastbound Wilson Blvd.

Two men allegedly tried to rob a mail carrier in Arlington this past Friday afternoon.

Arlington County police were dispatched to N. Columbus Street just north of Route 50 — in the Arlington Forest neighborhood — around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 5, for reports of an attempted robbery by two men, one of whom implied having a gun.

School Board candidate James “Vell” Rives IV used the Sept. 2 Arlington County Civic Federation candidate forum to press for a return of resource officers, known as SROs, which were removed from county schools four years ago.

A 25-year-old Arlington man and a teen boy are facing charges after a man was stabbed several times Friday night along S. Arlington Mill Drive.

A motive for the attack, which prompted a large police response, was not given. The victim was hospitalized “with injuries considered non-life-threatening.”
