Police are investigating gunfire in the Arlington View neighborhood, along Columbia Pike.

The shots were fired just before 2 p.m. along the 1200 block of S. Ross Street, near the Trove Apartments and the edge of Army Navy Country Club. There are no reports of anyone or anything being struck by the gunfire, though initial reports suggest that the shooting might have targeted at least one person who later talked with police.

A robbery at the Pentagon City mall Sunday afternoon caused a panic that sent shoppers fleeing and prompted a massive police response.

The incident started around 3:30 p.m. after Arlington County police received multiple reports of shots fired and smoke seen inside the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City. Arriving officers found people running from the mall and broken glass in front of the Tourneau watch and jewelry store.

Arlington police, firefighters and the county’s bomb squad conducted a major investigation in the Westover neighborhood today.

Law enforcement personnel, some in heavy protective gear, could be seen hauling items out of the Fisher House Apartments at 5705 Washington Blvd. Shortly before 3:45 p.m., an arrest was announced in connection to the case.

A driver has been cited after striking a teen cyclist in a crosswalk near a high school this morning.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of 13th Street N. and N. Quincy Street, adjacent to Washington-Liberty High School. An officer working in the area saw the crash and immediately radioed for medics to respond.

An Arlington fentanyl dealer whose pills reportedly caused a client to fatally overdose was sentenced to 10 years in prison yesterday (Wednesday).

Shan Mehmood, 21, pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiracy to distribute 40 or more grams of fentanyl, distribution of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

Arlington County police are investigating a pair of armed robberies at the Pentagon City mall.

The first robbery happened around 3:45 p.m. in the mall’s parking garage. Initial reports suggest that the man was armed with a short barrel rifle and robbed the victim of a watch.

Additional red light cameras are going online next week at two Arlington intersections.

Drivers will begin receiving warnings for infractions at the following sites in Rosslyn and along Langston Blvd starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, the county announced in a press release.

Two police officers and at least one store security guard were hurt trying to take a theft suspect into custody Friday.

That’s according to the latest Arlington County Police Department crime report. Police say the man robbed a store in Pentagon City around 3 p.m., implied he had a weapon, and fled to the Metro station, where a confrontation with law enforcement took place.

A large group of people on dirt bikes, ATVs and motorcycles rode through parts of Arlington Saturday night.

The illicit ride, involving dozens if not hundreds of riders, made its way through the Rosslyn area around 8 p.m., startling some diners at local restaurants and residents out for a sunset stroll. The ride also went through parts of D.C., including H Street NE.

The Arlington County Police Department has rolled out a new crime dashboard with up-to-date data on offenses and arrests.

The data hub, which went live today (Friday), includes interactive maps of offense locations, which users can sort by neighborhood, offense category, timeframe and police beat. It also delineates crime data by month and includes granular breakdowns of arrests based on offense codes and date.

August has been a busy month for police responding to vehicle thefts at rental car lots in the Crystal City area.

Another such incident — at least the third this month and the fourth this summer — was reported over the weekend. It happened at the same Avis and Budget lot on the 2600 block of Richmond Highway as an armed carjacking on Aug. 1.
