Falls Church is getting a new destination for cheese and charcuterie.

Contractors are currently building the storefront for The Cheese Cartel at 922 W. Broad Street, founder Alyssa Romashko told ARLnow. The new small business plans to carry a rotating selection of meats, cheeses, wines and bread.

Takagi Coffee has inked a deal at 721 15th Street S., in between Tend and Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House. The cafe applied for a commercial building permit last Friday.

Perspire Sauna Studio is in development across the street from the Clarendon Metro station, according to public records and new storefront signage. The company claims that its infrared sauna and therapy services, available in packages and monthly memberships, come with numerous health benefits.

Two new retail tenants have signed leases to join the ground floor of an apartment building in Falls Church.

Livewell Animal Hospital and laser hair removal studio SEV Laser are the newest additions to Modera Falls Church at 1033 W. Broad Street. The apartment began welcoming residential tenants in April and expects to open a cafe and Thai restaurant later this year.

A dermatology studio in Clarendon has closed, leaving a 3,000-square-foot vacancy in a shopping center undergoing significant changes.

Ever/Body, located between Chip City and The Golden Fox Boutique, shuttered after two years in business at 2800 Clarendon Blvd. The closure comes as the nearby Barnes & Noble undergoes remodeling and The Crossing Clarendon prepares to welcome a new restaurant.

Jeff Smith is opening Arlington’s second Twins Ace Hardware on the ground floor of The Zoe apartments at 2051 S. Bell Street. It’s expected to open this fall, developer JBG Smith announced in a release today (Tuesday).

Crystal City welcomed a new destination for green thumbs over the weekend.

The D.C.-based plant boutique PLNTR — known for its 2024 appearance on “Love is Blind” — celebrated the grand opening of its second location on Saturday at 269 19th Court S. The new shop hosts events and classes, and offers a variety of greenery and home goods for sale.

A bookstore and cafe with a taste for the mystical, metaphysical and macabre has announced plans to open in Falls Church.

The Dark, Unbound plans to sell books by “underrepresented voices in the fantasy, science-fiction, speculative fiction and horror genres,” in a cozy, moody atmosphere. It is in the works at 112 W. Broad Street, where Dominion Camera closed in September.

In just a few more months, the Macy’s in Ballston should be completely demolished.

Excavation, the next phase of redevelopment project, is predicted to start next season, developer Insight Property Group told ARLnow. Plans call for 553 new apartments, ground-floor retail and a grocery store.
