From 10:00 p.m. Friday to the end of the day on Sunday, the Blue and Orange Lines will be effectively split in two segments. No trains will run between Foggy Bottom and Arlington to “allow for rail fastener renewal, insulator replacement and sludge removal from the tunnel beneath the Potomac River.”
Shuttle buses will run between the Foggy Bottom, Rosslyn and Courthouse stations and from the Foggy Bottom, Rosslyn, Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon stations.
Update at 1:00 p.m. — Metro says via Twitter that crews have completed repair work on the cracked rail.
Blue and Orange Line Metro trains are single-tracking through parts of Arlington due to a cracked rail at Rosslyn. As of 11:55 a.m., Metro crews were reported to have repaired 50 percent of the crack.
The 2,200 square foot restaurant, which replaced Mr. Lee’s coffee shop and two other small businesses in the building’s lobby, will serve breakfast and lunch for hungry Rosslyn office workers.
A search for a website, Facebook page or phone number associated with the restaurant yielded no results.
With creatively named dishes like “Bikini Beef” and “Hot Girl Salad” it’s obvious the owners like to have fun at work. They’re so confident about their food’s quality that they’re letting customers try free samples.
“No good? No charge. Guarantee!” owner Leopold Liao said.
The restaurant, at 1501 Wilson Boulevard, will open at some point tomorrow, according to a PR rep. The opening will be followed with a “free lunch day” on Tuesday, Jan. 17; customers who line up between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be given a free lunch in exchange for a suggested donation to the charity Adoptions Together.
Roti, a Chicago-based chain, serves “healthy Mediterranean cuisine” in a fast casual environment.
A water main break has closed 19th Street N. between N. Kent Street and Arlington Ridge Road in Rosslyn.
Arlington County crews have stopped the flow of water from the break, but not before part of 19th Street buckled upward due to the pressure of the water.
The arts and cultural center, at 1101 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn, will now be closed to the public on Monday and Tuesdays, except when an evening event is scheduled. It will be open 4:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays (or later if programming warrants), and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
Whereas Artisphere was once open to the public for some 85 hours per week, it is now only scheduled to be open 37 hours per week.

But with a dozen television cameras rolling and with members of the national press corps typing notes into their laptops, Gingrich focused his sharpest words on GOP rival Mitt Romney. Specifically, Gingrich bristled at the negative ads Romney and others have been running against him in Iowa.
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will be appearing at a rally in Arlington Wednesday night.
Gingrich’s campaign has scheduled a rally from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Key Bridge Marriott (1401 Lee Highway) in Rosslyn, according to an email published by Politico. The rally is apparently part of an effort to make sure Gingrich collects enough signatures to appear on the ballot in Virginia.
Artisphere Executive Director Jose Ortiz admits that errors have been made, but hopes that even Artisphere’s most ardent critics can place their focus on the future.
“We have all acknowledged we didn’t meet the unrealistic goals set in the original plan,” Ortiz said. “Not all of these ideas and thoughts were great and now we’re fine tuning that.”
Ray’s Hell Burger in Rosslyn was the scene of an armed robbery on Thursday night. The well-known restaurant was robbed by three men dressed in ski masks and sunglasses, we’re told.

Police say the man walked into the Presidential Bank at 1700 N. Moore Street on Friday afternoon and demanded money from a teller. After receiving the cash, he fled on foot toward the Rosslyn Metro station. Officers arrived within a minute or two; they searched the station and the surrounding area but were unable to find the suspect.
The police department is now asking for the public’s help in identifying the man in the photo.
