The Rosslyn Business Improvement District is seeking to bolster its neighborhood’s public amenities with a new pop-up park that opened yesterday (Wednesday).

NOW, which the Rosslyn BID installed, is a new half-acre public park located around a pair of offices at 1401 Wilson Blvd and 1400 Key Blvd. Slated for eventual redevelopment, the revamped site includes urban gardens, a terraced event space and “pet relief area.”

Developers went 1-for-2 with County Board members on Saturday as one major redevelopment plan won approval and another went back to the drawing board.

It wasn’t everything they wanted, but County Board members got enough to unanimously approve the redevelopment of a key parcel in Clarendon.

The annual 9/11 Memorial 5K is returning to Arlington for its 23rd year this weekend, bringing road closures around the Pentagon and in Crystal City.

The Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff and ECC Memorial 5K is taking place on Saturday evening. The following road closures are scheduled, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Arlington’s largest free outdoor music festival is returning for its 33rd year this weekend at Rosslyn’s Gateway Park.

The 2025 Rosslyn Jazz Fest, run by the Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) and Arlington Arts, is scheduled for Saturday from 1-7 p.m. at 1300 Langston Blvd.

A D.C. woman has been arrested and charged with a trio of thefts from Arlington stores.

The thefts date back to October 2024. Police did not identify the businesses involved but they occurred on two blocks, in Pentagon City and Rosslyn, that correspond with the location of Target stores.

A new high-rise Hilton hotel opened for business yesterday (Tuesday) in Rosslyn, bringing new events spaces and an American restaurant to the former Holiday Inn site.

Guests are now welcome at the 36-story Hilton Arlington Rosslyn The Key, equipped with new amenities including a bar and two eateries: the Locket restaurant and Scott’s Coffee Shop & Mart.

After three years of construction, workers have placed the final beam on the J Rivelle, a pair of new apartment buildings in Rosslyn.

County officials and project leaders gathered yesterday (Thursday) to sign the steel beam at the project’s topping out ceremony. The finished product by Jefferson Apartment Group and CBG Building Company encompasses 422 housing units across two 27-story towers at 1901 N. Moore Street.

The Arlington County Board has approved three major development projects in Rosslyn, Ballston and Shirlington with nearly 1,250 units of housing.

Before heading into summer break on Tuesday, Board members unanimously approved zoning changes to permit the Penzance’s One Rosslyn and Ballston One redevelopment projects along with new apartments and townhouse units on the Shirlington House site.

The site plan to redevelop Rosslyn’s former Key Bridge Marriott has expired, raising even more questions for the future of the Langston Blvd property.

Plans for a renovated hotel and two 16-story residential buildings at 1401 Langston Blvd expired on July 1, county spokesperson Rachel LaPiana told ARLnow.

A new food hall in Rosslyn will celebrate its grand opening this week with a ribbon cutting, giveaways and live music.

Wonder, a new celebrity chef-partnered food hall at 1771 N. Pierce Street, opens for business at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday. The new hall hosts over a dozen vendors, including exclusive Wonder partners and restaurants from across the country.

A new restaurant serving Turkish sandwiches, wraps and pita dishes has opened in Rosslyn.

D.C.-based Capital Doner opened its second location last month at 1731 Wilson Blvd, across the street from H-B Woodlawn. The restaurant serves halal gyros and shawarma, plus falafel wraps and traditional Turkish desserts.

Numerous large-scale redevelopment and conversion projects are scheduled to go before the Arlington County Board at upcoming meetings.

A full slate of projects would bring a total of 1,535 new residential units and 344 hotel rooms to Rosslyn, Ballston, Shirlington, Crystal City and Virginia Square. They include both teardowns and adaptive-reuse projects involving underused office buildings.
