Clarendon Day is back this Saturday, with over 150 local artisans, businesses, nonprofits and restaurants participating in the annual street festival.

This year’s event kicks off at 11 a.m. in the blocks surrounding the Clarendon Metro station at 3100 Wilson Blvd. The following local bands and musicians are slated to perform live.

Over 150 local artisans, businesses, nonprofits and restaurants are expected to participate in this year’s Clarendon Day on Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will run from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the blocks surrounding the Clarendon Metro station.

The annual Falls Church Festival is approaching, bringing back a day of live music, activities and tastings from local restaurants.

Over 90 vendors and civic organizations will join the fun as the festival returns for its 49th year from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event outside City Hall at 300 Park Avenue is rain or shine.

While the Ferris wheels and games are probably the Arlington County Fair’s most iconic attractions, an entire second world could be found this weekend indoors.

Many fairgoers sought refuge from a 100-degree heat index inside the Thomas Jefferson Community Center (3501 2nd Street S.). There, they encountered vendors selling assorted wares, advocates seeking signatories for petitions, assorted competitions and more.

Live yacht rock tunes and dining specials are coming to The Village at Shirlington for a night of nautical-themed fun this Saturday.

The shopping center at 2700 S. Quincy Street is hosting a yacht party from 5-7 p.m., complete with a raffle, live music by the cover band YotRox and dining specials.

The annual Columbia Pike Blues Festival is returning in two weeks for an afternoon of festivities for all ages.

The D.C. area’s largest blues festival is coming back for its 28th year on Saturday, June 14, stretching from S. Walter Reed Drive to 9th Street S. on the Pike. As always, it’s free.

New brunch eats and do-it-yourself bellinis are coming to Mister Days in Clarendon for the first time this weekend.

The cafe and bar at 1101 N. Highland Street is soft opening a weekend brunch menu from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday), along with discounted bellinis at its new “Bubbly Bellini Bar” through the rest of May.

The traveling Sazon Latin Food Market is making a pitstop in Clarendon this spring.

The culinary Latin American festival is planned from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Arlington Beer Garden (3217 10th Street N.). Event planner Latin City promises music, drinks and food representing the Caribbean, Central and South America.


Around Town

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington is inviting the community to its equivalent of a baby shower this weekend.

“Spring is baby season,” the organization said in announcing a “We’re Expecting!” community event on Saturday, which gives the public a chance to “learn about the incredible work that goes into caring for kittens and baby wildlife at our shelter.”

BlerDCon, an annual convention celebrating Black fandoms of sci-fi, comics, gaming and more, is happening this weekend in Crystal City.

Named for a portmanteau of “Black” and “nerd,” BlerDCon aims to entertain and create an inclusive environment for fans of “nerdy or geeky things.” Celebrity guest Janelle Monae is expected to join this year’s convention, which includes cosplay meetups, speaker panels, games, anime and more.
