The sushi and Thai food restaurant in Cherrydale at 3813 Langston Blvd has once again changed hands.

Now renamed Siam Miyaki, this represents the eatery’s fifth change in ownership in four years. Arlington residents Onin Saleerum and Isara “Ming” Tawkrue have taken over the lease from May Ditnoy, the previous owner of Siam Shinzo, which was previously known as Tuna Restaurant.

Trader Joe’s once appeared to be coming to Crystal City. But that effort seems to have quietly come to an end.

A little over a year ago, a construction permit application filed for 2450 Crystal Drive explicitly said that the grocer was coming to the property. In March, a liquor license application confirmed the same.


A coffee shop with local roots is eyeing the Potomac Yard area in Arlington for its third storefront.

Kaldi’s Social House is moving in at 3639 S. Glebe Road, according to permits filed for the property. The restaurant will have 114 seats inside, plus 35 on the outside, the permits suggest.

Two rainbow murals were installed in Crystal City last week, just in time for Pride Month.

Placed along 23rd Street S., one roadway mural runs along the interior perimeter of the intersection with S. Fern Street. The other borders the crosswalk at S. Eads Street.

Hungry soldiers have a new place to dine at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall.

Fort Myer’s new dining facility held its grand opening on Wednesday after three years of renovations, providing a modernized place to eat for more than 4,000 active duty and Department of Defense civilians on base.
