More than 6,000 homes and businesses were without power Friday afternoon in the Pentagon City and Crystal City area after a major outage.

The outage started around 1 p.m. There were frequent police and fire dispatches to the area for traffic complaints, numerous elevators stuck with people inside, and a report of smoke and alarms in the Pentagon City mall food court.

Arlington Republicans are setting their sights on the 2027 Commonwealth’s Attorney race amid an ongoing dispute between the county’s police union and its top prosecutor.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in a Ballston area parking garage. Police say the victim confronted the man and grabbed her wallet back from him after finding the suspect rummaging through her car.

Arlington County police are looking for suspects in a pair of robberies that happened just before the Christmas holiday.

The first happened in the Long Branch Creek neighborhood around 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, and involved two teens — one reportedly armed with a gun — who robbed another teen in the “shared common area of a residential building.”

A delivery driver was carjacked last night on the same block as Amazon’s HQ2.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on the 500 block of 14th Street S. in Pentagon City. Police say the driver tried to chase down his car after the suspect hopped in the idling vehicle and started driving away, but the suspect drew a gun and drove off.

Leonardo Reyes, the man accused of sending a mother and her toddler to the hospital with life-threatening stab wounds in a Saturday night attack, was out on probation for the attempted robbery of a drug store in 2021.

A mother and an young child are fighting for their lives after being stabbed Saturday night in Pentagon City.

The stabbing happened around 9:45 p.m. near the entrance to the Target store at the corner of Army Navy Drive and S. Joyce Street. Initial reports suggest a mother and her baby were both stabbed and critically injured by a suspect said to be the child’s father.
