After eight months in the making, Dumpling District opened its “flagship” location alongside a new Kung Fu Tea in Pentagon City last week.

The two businesses share a space in the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, next to Häagen-Dazs on the mall’s Metro level entrance. Though Dumpling District has four other spots across the D.C. area, this is its first ever dine-in location with sit-down service.

Arlington’s annual 9/11 5K race is returning to Pentagon City next month — this year looking to finally pass $1 million in total donations.

The Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff and ECC 9/11 Memorial Race — which donates all proceeds to organizations that support first responders, military personnel and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks — will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7. The run has generated a total of over $950,000 since it began in 2002.

Around 2,500 Arlington homes and businesses are without power Saturday afternoon due to a large outage.

The outage spans parts of the Long Branch Creek, Arlington Ridge and Pentagon City neighborhoods, according to a Dominion map. An additional 170 Dominion customers are reportedly without power in Alexandria’s Arlandria neighborhood as of 1:30 p.m.

After less than a year in business, a Latin American restaurant at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City has seemingly shuttered.

Maizal’s bright yellow exterior sign at 1100 S. Hayes Street, near Macy’s, has been removed and its interior appears to be cleared out.

A new Uniqlo in Pentagon City is hosting its grand opening this week, offering free treats, merch and manga-style portraits to select customers.

The Japanese fast-fashion brand will open for business at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) following a taiko drum performance by the Mark H Taiko Connection. This will kick off an opening weekend of limited-time offers and giveaways at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Another trip around the sun marks the annual return of the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck to Pentagon City, this year with new goodies.

Following the tradition of years past, that familiar pink truck will stop from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Westpost retail center to offer Hello Kitty merchandise and treats (for payment by credit or debit card only).

A “suspicious vehicle” in the Pentagon parking lot near Pentagon City has prompted road closures and an investigation.

Pentagon police said on social media shortly after 11 a.m. that officers were “responding to a suspicious vehicle in the Pentagon South Parking Lot.”

A new European clothing store is now open at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.

Spanish fast-fahion retailer Mango opened this past Wednesday, July 24 on the mall’s second level near Haggar. Mango has clothing for adults and kids in addition to home decor, though the Pentagon City location mostly sells women’s apparel.

Irish pub Mattie and Eddie’s is expected to close next week at Westpost in Pentagon City.

The food-focused pub — which opened in 2021 and replaced Siné, another Irish pub — was a labor of love for chef, restaurateur and Dublin native Cathal Armstrong, who named the new establishment after his grandparents.

The Arlington County Board has re-approved the Pentagon City Sector Plan, restoring a document that a state court declared void for procedural reasons earlier this year.

The Board’s unanimous vote on Tuesday reaffirmed the county’s original February 2022 decision to plan for substantial Pentagon City development in coming years, particularly at the RiverHouse apartment complex. Developer JBG Smith proposes to build over 1,500 new units on the expansive property, across from the Westpost shopping center and home to three apartment towers.
