A new Korean barbecue restaurant has opened for business near Crystal City’s Restaurant Row with grilling options aplenty.

Pi BBQ and Bar, located at 420 23rd Street S., promises “an extensive menu featuring premium cuts of meat, fresh seafood and a variety of traditional Korean dishes” in a modern atmosphere. The restaurant replaces a vacancy left by the Chinese restaurant Young Chow in 2023.


A Falls Church “toy library” will let customers borrow some toys free of charge in exchange for donations of leftover candy following Halloween.

The Toy Nest is collecting unopened candy as part of its annual candy buyback program, which loans out games, puzzles and more in exchange for sugary treats. The buyback program runs for a week, beginning the day after Halloween this Saturday.

Dogma Bakery & Boutique will celebrate its 25th anniversary next month, marking over two decades of charity and tail wags across Arlington. 

Since 2000, the business has offered signature store-baked dog treats and pet supplies while lending support to animal rescue organizations. Giving back to the community is owner Sheila Raebel’s proudest achievement and has been part of Dogma’s mission since its origins as a bakery-cafe at the Lee Harrison Shopping Center.


The ARLnow Shop is back open for the holiday season and we need to stock it with new items.

Unfortunately, inside jokes about the gondola and brown flip flops are getting a bit long in the tooth, so we’re in need of new ideas. That’s where you come in — this year we’re asking readers to help us with design ideas.

Here’s a look at what county newcomers can expect and where to go locally on the spookiest night of the year.


A new party supply store is planning to open in a vacant Columbia Pike storefront where a family-owned rug shop closed last year.

New signs have appeared for Tysons-based Party Mania at 2330 Columbia Pike, which has been empty since the rug retailer Manoukian Brothers Oriental Rugs relocated to Langston Blvd.

They entered as a typical group of Arlington teens and tweens. Within 90 minutes, they had been transformed into, among others, a monster, princess, a pumpkin and a unicorn.

The metamorphosis came courtesy of Encore Stage & Studio, which on Oct. 25 hosted its first-ever Halloween-makeup workshop at Cherrydale United Methodist Church.
