A new player is entering the fitness market in south Arlington.

A Club Studio is expected to open later this year in the National Gateway complex at 3550 S. Clark Street, bringing a gym with cryotherapy services, boutique fitness classes and a “recovery lab” to the area near Potomac Yard and Crystal City.

Arlington’s annual 9/11 5K race is returning to Pentagon City next month — this year looking to finally pass $1 million in total donations.

The Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff and ECC 9/11 Memorial Race — which donates all proceeds to organizations that support first responders, military personnel and victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks — will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7. The run has generated a total of over $950,000 since it began in 2002.

A 63-year-old Florida man has been arrested following the robbery of a Crystal City bank Monday morning.

Police say the man, who’s accused of passing a note to a teller and fleeing with stolen cash, was “identified and subsequently taken into custody in Washington, DC on [Tuesday] with the assistance of Metro Transit Police Department.”

Three days after three men carjacked a rental car off the lot in the Crystal City area, three men stole two more cars from a nearby lot.

The incident, classified as a robbery, happened around 5:15 p.m. Sunday on the 2700 block of Richmond Highway, which is home to an Enterprise rental lot. One of the men was armed, police said.

A new option for pastries, coffee and brunch is opening in Crystal City this week.

No stranger to the D.C. area, Boston-based Tatte Bakery & Cafe is set to begin serving customers on Wednesday at 269 19th Court S., in the retail space underneath one of two newer apartment towers at 1900 Crystal Drive.

In the Crystal City Water Park’s first year post-renovation, it has “emerged as one of the most unique destinations” of the D.C. region.

That’s according to Tracy Sayegh Gabriel, the president and executive director of the National Landing BID.

A large fire department response responded to an underground utility fire in Crystal City this afternoon.

The fire, on the 2400 block of Crystal Drive amid office and apartment buildings, followed reports of an “explosion” heard and felt in the area shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

More than 2,500 homes and businesses were without power Monday afternoon in parts of Pentagon City and Crystal City.

Reports of the outage started coming in around 3:20 p.m. Firefighters have since been dispatched to numerous buildings in the area for reports of stuck elevators.

An upcoming karaoke spot in Crystal City hopes to open later this year.

Interior construction is underway at Lantern Restaurant & Bar, which expects to open toward the end of this year, according to a county staff report for the Arlington County Board.
