Falls Church is introducing a pilot sip-and-stroll program this weekend in partnership with several local businesses downtown.

From 5-10 p.m. this Saturday, Little City Sips will allow residents to partake in alcoholic beverages on the go, while enjoying entertainment, a lively atmosphere and libations from local restaurants, available in branded cups.

An Arlington-based boxing studio is closing all three of its Northern Virginia studios this month, per an email to customers.

BASH Boxing will be closing its locations in Ballston, Rosslyn and Fairfax County’s Mosaic District on Sunday, June 21, according to a mass email sent to customers just before noon today (Monday).

This July 4, Falls Church residents will have the chance to hear the Declaration of Independence read out from the same spot it was proclaimed nearly 250 years before.

Tradition holds that the document was read from the steps of The Falls Church sometime in September 1776, marking the first time many in the local area had heard the rallying cry for independence.


Community leaders and neighborhood residents celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Aurora Hills branch library on Saturday.

Megan Wianecki, manager of the branch library, said the day’s events were not just a celebration of the centennial, but all those who support the library and community.

A supper club with Latin American cuisine and an afterlife-inspired theme debuts in Clarendon later this month.

The new restaurant and nightlife spot Cielo opens Tuesday, June 16, following two years of preparations at 1137 N. Highland Street. Restaurateur Michael Sina told ARLnow he hopes to offer an upscale, “fully immersive experience” with dining and music, centered around a “heaven and hell” aesthetic.


Plans for a new beer garden in Crystal City appear doubtful as the space has gone back up for lease.

The property at 556 22nd Street S. — which includes several thousand vacant square feet of indoor and outdoor patio space — had re-entered the market as of last week, despite a local chef’s previous plans to open Scapegoat Beer Garden there.

A new option for weekend brunch in Clarendon comes with an audiophile twist.

Oasis: The Listening Bar has begun hosting live jazz music from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sundays at 2940 Clarendon Blvd, offering sweet and savory Japanese dishes and patio seating along with the tunes.
