A long-awaited restaurant and bar in Virginia Square will officially open its doors today (Friday).
Richmond-based Wood & Iron will serve diners at new outpost at 3401 Fairfax Drive starting this afternoon, owner Steve Rogge confirmed to ARLnow.

A fitness studio near the Courthouse Metro has changed hands and brands.
The Xtend Barre at 2008 Wilson Blvd has rebranded to Studio B under new owners Dana Wilson and Elaine Broughan, both of whom have worked at the studio for several years.

After 26 years of serving customers at Silver Diner in Arlington, Dorothy Johnson — known to regulars as “Mama D” — is hanging up her uniform.
Johnson will wait on customers for the last time this Saturday (March 7) at the Ballston restaurant, located at 750 N. Glebe Road. Silver Diner will hold a going away party at the restaurant at 1:30 p.m. so coworkers and customers can say their goodbyes, according to a press release.
It’s a changing of the guard for pizza restaurants in Crystal City.
The regional pizza chain Pizzeria Paradiso is expected to open a new fast-casual spot in National Landing Water Park this spring, replacing Crush Pizza and Wine at 1611 Crystal Drive.

A charcoal chicken restaurant blending “bold Brazilian inspiration with Lebanese flavors” is expected to open next week in Lyon Village.

A new program at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington is treating shelter pets to performances by volunteer musicians.
The Paws in Music program, a partnership with the Houston-based nonprofit Wild Tunes, organizes volunteers to play music at the animal shelter in shifts. The performances began yesterday (Tuesday).
A D.C.-area writer and advocate for polyamorous lifestyles will discuss her experiences outside of monogamy at a talk in East Falls Church tomorrow (Thursday).
One More Page Books (2200 N. Westmoreland Street) will host author Natalie Davis for a discussion on her new book, “Saying Yes: My Adventures in Polyamory,” from 7-8 p.m. The event will include a book reading, conversation with certified sex therapist Tamara Pincus, a Q&A session and a book signing.

A Maryland man has been arrested and charged after apparently live-streaming himself discreetly touching a woman’s hair on a Metro train in Arlington.
Bryan Betancur, 28, was taken into custody yesterday (Monday) following an incident that took place around 10:09 p.m. on Sunday on a Silver Line train servicing the Clarendon Metro station, Metro Transit Police said.
After a year and a half of delays, a Clarendon nightlife spot with an upscale approach to dining and cocktails is targeting next month to finally open its doors.
Cielo submitted a liquor license application late last month and intends to open at 1137 N. Highland Street in mid-April, owner Michael Sina told ARLnow.
